Burma..
November 25th, 2009So Burma night is over. Two days ago in fact, and I’m emerging from the exhausted, cranky, discombobulation of the last month or so of organisation and planning, and although we’re still “clearing up” (sending thank yous, raffle prizes, contacting auction winners, etc) I think we’ll be there soon. How tired were we? Well, yesterday’s celebratory lunch menu was: cauliflower soup, risotto with CHIPS, banoffee pie and lashings of coca cola. Times two, we weren’t sharing anything.
There is so much to tell, I hardly know where to start, so I’ll begin at the end, with our guests, to whom Anna and I owe huge thanks for their not inconsiderable financial donation (dinner, film, silent auction, raffle) but more importantly for the love and support they brought for such an incredibly worthy cause. Thank you all for your emails, texts and phone messages in the last couple of days.
We appreciate we’re not the most organised fundraisers in the world, but everyone was so patient and kind and didn’t seem to mind when we sat them at a table next to the one person they asked not to be sat next to (sorry!) or put the tables so close together they could hardly breathe, or couldn’t find their name on a name card and let them walk round the room for hours with a bad foot in search of a spare seat (Jeffrey, I’m talking about YOU!).
I’m going to do regular little posts for the next few days because there is a lot about Prospect Burma, about the movie, about our generous prize donors, about the food for the night etc, that we didn’t manage to communicate in such a short time, so stay tuned! And most importantly, THANK YOU!!!
love Kathleen, and super gorgeous Anna.
